Finding an apartment in Berlin is difficult for everybody – and for those without housing, it is almost impossible.
At Berliner Obdachlosenhilfe e.V., our social work team supports – clients among other things – in their search for housing.
Our goal: a safe, long-term place where they can arrive and call home.
You can support us in this mission!
What are we planning?
We want to become housing sponsors by purchasing cooperative shares. This gives us the right to allocate apartments, which we then pass on to our clients. The tenants sign their own rental contracts and take full responsibility for their homes – we simply secure access to the housing.
Why housing cooperatives?
- long-term stable and affordable rents
- access to shared spaces and a sense of community
- cooperation with housing cooperatives that share our values:
participation, ecological responsibility, solidarity, and democratic decision-making - tenants become cooperative members and can actively take part in shaping their living environment
What does this look like in practice?
We are currently fundraising for apartments with GSP eG, which is building new housing in Kaulsdorf by 2027:

Our first goal: 4 apartments.
To get started, we need €34,000 in cooperative shares for the first apartment – and we need your support to make this happen.
